Two Years of Blogging

It has been almost two years since I wrote my first blog Dec 21, 2008. I  started slow and didn't really know what I was doing but I kept reading blogs to get inspiration and found my own voice. Thanks to all who visit and my regular followers. I hope to become  more skillful and learn how to add more fun things to my blog. I'm pretty basic so have patience with me.

I have a couple things to share today. Yesterday Hubby and I went to Ikea looking for a Christmas gift idea. Normally going to Ikea is not on Hubby's list of favorite things to do, but he was wanting to get out of the house ( he's been retired one year now). I bribed him with Swedish Meatballs for lunch (yummm) and off we went. Not crowded at all mid-day Thursday. We didn't find what I was hoping to find but found a new "sewing" chair. Pretty shell pink, adjustable height and wheels! Isn't she cute. Needed a little padding for the back and I had just the pillow for the job.

Last weekend my granddaughters, Stella and Scarlett, came for an overnight visit and Stella wanted to make a pillow. I have a cute Hello Kitty sewing machine for her to use. She looked thru my stash and picked her fabric and I set her up in my sewing room to sew. Her sister wanted her to make one for her and picked her fabric as well.
Here they are sewing off their pillows.  Next time we will make a small quilt. Stella's sewing skills are really improving and I think she is ready to start a patchwork project.
While she was sewing her pillow, I was working on my Heart and Home using Fruitcake by basicgrey. I have two more borders to go but here is what it looks like so far.

I have a light scrappy border to add and then the final border is the red ornaments fabric. I hope to get those on tomorrow. I will post again when the quilt is finished.
I really like the fabrics in this quilt.

I made these cute table runners for gifts. I just love the fabrics and these were so fast. I think I've made about 10 so far.
Well I guess that is all I have to share tonight and I better get off to bed.
More to come. Thanks for stopping by.
Goodnight ....Kay

Shimmering Silver

Welcome to this weeks Colorful Friday . The color is Silver and at first I thought it would be a challenge, but I did find some shy silver, quietly waiting to be discovered. Here's what I found.
